Winners of Christmas Card and 2025 Calendar competition revealed

We are delighted to confirm the winners of our annual Christmas art competition for brain injury survivors.

Winners of the Christmas Card and Calendar competition

More than 150 entries were submitted by people from brain injury groups across Scotland with the hope of seeing their creations feature in the 2024 Christmas card or 2025 calendar.

Now in its 11th year, judges were overwhelmed with the number of entries received and found it a real challenge to pick just 14 lucky winners from the impressive array of submissions.

The Awards Ceremony

Chris Stewart, Head of Digby Brown’s Serious Injury Department, hosted the winner’s lunch at the Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow on Tuesday 10 December and praised the efforts of all who took part.

He said: "The Christmas Card and Calendar competition is something we look forward to every year because it's an opportunity to showcase the incredible artistic talents of brain injury survivors across Scotland.
"Art can play such an important role in building confidence and enabling self-expression for people living with a brain injury and it’s truly heartwarming to see brain injury groups getting involved year after year.
"A huge thank you to everyone who participated and congratulations to our winners!"

Carrie-Ann Holland, member of BIG Group and the calendar winner for September, spoke about the importance of art as part of recovery from brain injury.

She said: “When I doodle I get lost in the picture, so it helps to ground me.
“I’ve always got my sketchbook with me so if noise starts getting far too much I doodle and it gives me something to focus on – I love it!”

Christmas Card Winner 2024

One lucky winner will now see their artwork used for the annual Digby Brown Christmas Card which the firm sends to external partners and stakeholders.

Grace Porter, Headway East Lothian

The 2025 Calendar

The other 13 winners will see their artwork displayed in the 2025 Calendar which is shared with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) support groups across the country.

Each winning artist receives a £20 M&S voucher, a certificate and multiple copies of the card and calendar to share with family and friends, while the charity they represent also receives a cheque for £200. Groups who submitted artwork but sadly didn’t win, also received £100 each.
